Carrying Modules

I've just finished first year and have to repeat 2 modules over the next week. If I fail those, or one of them at least, do I have to carry the failed module(s) to 2nd year or can I choose to repeat the exams externally as I would rather not juggle 6 difficult modules next year with 1 or 2 more?

Also, and sorry if this is asked constantly, how much would it be to repeat 2 exams externally?

    Cheers,
    Conway

Depending on the modules, if they are not a requirement to pass before the next year, you can carry them. If you want to repeat externally, you just pay the exam fee when exams comes around.

Make sure you have all the notes and let the lecturers know once confirmed. But best bet is to speak with your course leader first as your course may have different rules in this regard.

From experience, don't let the exams build up. Its a lot harder than you would think trying to study for a load of exams. But everyone is different I guess.

Hey man, cheers for the reply.
The possibility of having 2 extra exams next year is exactly why I want to repeat just the 2 I failed externally next August then move onto 2nd year that September if all goes well.

From what you've said I gather you don't have to contact the WiT office to repeat externally and just pay the 150 the following August, but if I repeat externally doesn't that mean I have no Moodle login and you pay for repeats over Moodle?

Also, do you know the procedure regarding repeating externally and getting grants the following year?

Your exams would be in the next appropriate exam session. If its a Semester 1 subject you are repeating, the exam is in December. If its a Semester 2 then its May. August is for repeats for those who failed in a Semester that session.

I cant remember exactly the procedure with repeating externally, you would need to double check with your course leader / school office. I think you just don't pay for the year and then re-enter for the exams when the registration for such comes along but double check.

Repeating generally means no access to Moodle or lecturers. But some are decent and let you in anyway or give you the notes.

In regards to the grant, I thought you lost if it you ended up repeating. So you would need to double check that.

Alright, thanks again for the help. I'll get onto my course leader about it.

You can try contact him/her now. Most are away from work until September 1st IIRC and some tend to answer emails / float around helping. :)
