Yet another tablet that has been substanially reduced recently. Lowest price ever. The blurb from Amazon-
    • Sony Tablet P is designed for those who enjoy living their life on the go. Its compact dual screen, clamshell design and weight of just 370g make it light wieght compact and highly portable
    • The first Playstation certified Tablet ever - meaning you get out-of-box gaming with PlayStation favourites Crash Bandicoot and Pinball Heroes plus the opportunity to download games from the original Playstation titles online.
    • Control your TV, Blu-Ray Disc player, Hi-Fi system, even your cable box from your Sony Tablet. The built -in infra-red Universal Remote is compatible with any brand, so you can flip channels or adjust the volume of your entire entertainment system from one screen.
    • "Throw" content from your Tablet to your TV, Home Entertainment System or Vaio notebook via the built in DLNA media apps.
    • The smooth user experience of the Sony Tablet and its standard Android 3.1 operating system can now be enhanced with the Android 3.2.1 upgrade

It wouldn't be my type of thing but am thinking of getting it for my youngest for christmas. What are people's thoughts on it? Is it worth going for at this price?

Possibly worth it for the massive price drop, but ignore the "Playstation Certified" bits - it's rubbish.

Also be aware that you'll have virtually no aftermarket accessories available for it (cases, chargers etc) except for Sony official, and they will charge you through the nose.

From a specs/manufacturer point of view, it's quite a nice machine for the price, but after reading the Amazon user reviews I don't think I'd consider it.

I think it's discounted down to £150 because there's a bunch of stuff out or coming that's more compelling in the £200-300 price range.

Its an interesting idea, and big reduction but I don't think i'd bother with it.

Well if it's a tablet that you're looking for I'd recommend the Nexus 7. It's an amazing tablet for the price. http://www.google.com/nexus/#/7 It's about €160! You couldn't go wrong with it!

It's more like 240 ish over here.

But I wouldn't be mad about the sony, there's plenty of very good tablets at very reasonable prices these days

I've put an order in anyway but will probably cancel. It doesn't have a dispatch date as of yet. I agree that there are loads of other options at decent prices at the moment and I'd say there are going to be more price drops in the coming months. I am going to check out the display model in Curry's tomorrow and see what it is like in reality. To be honest I am kind of intrigued by it even with all the bad reviews out there.

There is a load of complaints about the build of it, and the Screen ceasing and coming apart. I wouldn't buy it.

    Out of stock from Amazon.
The one I ordered is dispatching soon. Looks like my son is getting it for Christmas unless I decid to have it  One of the main uses I want a tablet for is as an e-reader and this actually sounds ideal as one.
