    Hi,

There's a "clunking" noise coming from my back wheel. Happens even when I'm wheeling the bike and at every rotation. Could the bearings need replacement?

    DOC

well if you can recreate a problem then you can fix it. If it happens every rotation and even when you are wheeling it then it cant be too hard to find the issue.

first thing I would do would be to take the wheel off and spin it in your hands. See if you have the noise then. At least then you will know if its the wheel itself. If you get no noise doing this then reinstall the wheel and spin the wheel very slowly while observing that the wheel spins free and it not hitting off anything (chainstays, mudguard, brake blocks)

good luck. let us know how it goes..

I have something similar, more of a "clicking" than a "clunking". I can only hear it a low speeds, once per rev. I thought it was a loose/ creaking spoke but it turns out there's a small piece of metal loose in the rim, and it moves around a low speeds, eg going uphill. At higher speeds, the centrifugal force holds it in place. I think the piece is used during manufacturing to help align the rim before welding, and is usually welded in place. Anyway, it's a bit annoying, but I'm not sure if it can be fixed.

Here's a similar thread on the subject.

Mine was doing this, and was hard to pedal; turned out the axle had broken.

    Bearing issues maybe?

Looks like it's the bearings. Called into my LBS today. Gonna pop it in to be fixed next week
