Second hand tyres needed urgently

Hi I have a BMW 320i and runflat tyres. I went to Tyreland in Glasnevin earlier to see about getting them changed. He said my sized wheels are rare and hadn't got any in stock.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows similar places I could check. You know the German imported ones (or wherever laws are different than our own) which only allow tyres to get to a certain depth.

I'll have to check that and get back to you. About an hour I'd say before I'm home. Cheers.

Tyreland also have a place in Swords, they may be able to help you. Not sure where else would have them unfortunately.

Cheers man I was aware of that, but tbh I didn't have chance to check tyres size earlier so didn't actually call them at the time. Could def give them a call tomorrow anyway though.

    The tyre width is 255.

255 is common enough, what is the rest of the measurements?

E.g. my tyre size for my car is 225/40/18

Yeah I took note of that as well, just to be on the safe side cause i've never done this before.

    It reads:

    255/40R17 DOT 7GUY MRB

Got a quote today for new ones - €306 each. Fúck that. Stores tried out of stock, if anyone does know somewhere selling them second hand I'd be very grateful if you could let me know. Cheers.

Would you not consider non run flats and throw a spare in the boot along with a jack and wheel brace etc :)

If you shop around you'll surely find some crowd competitive compared to online tyre options, runflats are an expensive gimic imo with more cons than pros. F all chance of picking up 2nd hand run flats too me thinks, they'd be stashed away for trade folks me thinks if any are available at all.

Cheers man but seems I have sourced a set for later at a decent price.

Bit of a gimmick too imo, like would it be possible to have my tyres slashed, if so then what?

The way the car is it doesn't really allow for a spare neatly. In fairness though even with a flat I did get home from Offaly ok at 80km/h.

I am a bit uncertain too but haven't really weighed up the pros and cons enough to make an educated decision.

a 225-45-R17 would be a lot more popular size (in normal tyre at least) and Im sure would fit your car too. try camskll.co.uk for new ones
