    Hi

does anyone know how i can get rid of a 2nd network connection? its unsecure and ive done everything i know of.. 1. went into the wireless settings deleted it from but its still showing. 2. got ip address and went into that cisco thing into wireless and theres only 1 wifi connection showing not the one i want rid of..

basically i was using this unsecure connection probably for years now and it was when we switched over providers they guy connecting it set it up. anyways i now use the secure one which i put the password in so its locked. but this other connection is really bugging me. i also looked at thus youtube clip where it shows when you go to regedit and delete the network cards and that still didnt work. seems like im stuck with this connection

if anyone has any suggestions id appreciate it

    cheers

Is it some sort of guest network, or secondary SSID? I am not familiar with the router in question, but look for those keywords in the wireless setup.

yeah it was set up by the installer guy a few years back, i think i seen it saying SSID.. the thing is its erased off pc and when i go into that the cisco thing the only one showing is the other network. basically the other day i noticed that one of the UPC wifi networks that i was picking up was acually mine so i activated by putting the password in and ive been working off that one ever since. the other one im on about is still showing up.. its really annoying..havr spent ages trying to get rid of it. i wonder if i got rid of the upc one and tryed to revert back to the one im trying to get rid of and then put a lock on that one..

    cheers

Are you sure you have not been using your neighbours wifi all this time?

Can you not just hard reset the router in question and then set up a new connection?

not sure how this is done, is there a reset button on the router and that would wipe both of the network connections?if so sounds like the best thing to do then can set up a new connection as you said

There is more often than not a reset button on the back of most routers (either a physical button or a pinhole) The usual technique is to press and hold this in for 5, 10 or 15 seconds whilst powering the router up.

Sorry to be a bit vague... I am unsure what router you are using!

You may also find an option to do a factory reset within the routers control panel, maybe under security or maintenance. Again, sorry to be vague! :o
