Not sure if it's fair or not, but it's certainly a bit sneaky and probably not legal....

Single bars of chocolate being sold in a 4 for €2 deal with "Multipack - Not for resale" on them!

Saw this in a newsagent chain in Wilton SC recently.

You still get a good enough deal but it's just not what you thought!

Report this to the manufacturer who has produced and sold the chocolate for sale in multi-packs. it is not illegal but the supplier may be put under pressure from wholesalers not to allow this in stores they supply to.

    Perfectly legal.

Does it make that much of a difference to your enjoyment of the bar. Does it lower the bars value to you? if you were planning to sell them on it might.

If they were proper single retail packs and you somehow found out he got them at a very good price (below mulitpack price per 100g), or that they won them in a prize would you be similarly concerned?

From the sounds of things he should not do this, as he might find he has no decent offers to avail of in the future!

The manufacturer might not be too upset either, he is in effect splitting up mulitpacks and forcing them to be sold as multipacks again, but giving the consumer more choice.

you must lead a terribly boring life if you spend more than a second thinking about trivial things like this!

So let's get this right, the retailer has split up a range of different multipacks and is selling them in a multi buy deal at the same price as a multi pack, but giving YOU a CHOICE of bars?
And then you moan about it on boards and call it a rip-off!

This should be in bargain alerts.

Who's moaning! Just asking the question! Stop hating, sandin!

Its in rip-off Irealnd thread, therefore by default, YOU are moaning.

If it was in consumer issues or baragin alerts, I'd tone the answer differently, but you chose the thread.

I think you are right there. The retailer is thinking outside the box, creating his own special offers and passing on the savings to the customer.

    Another non-rip off.

Saying what a shop is doing is "probably not legal" is not only asking a question. It's drawing suspiction on someones business.
