Slow Delivery from China

    Hi,

I ordered a part on eBay from a seller on July 27th. The part was advertised as being from the UK and that delivery would be in three to five days. I had received nothing as of last week so I contacted the seller who then gave me this story

"Item in UK warehouse is out of stock.
we also cannot supply items to UK warehouse in short time Due to serious customs check and road restrictions during the London Olympic Games.
    i am sorry for that.
item has been ship to buyer from HK or China or sweden depend on post office services scince 27july"

He also included a tracking number which I couldn't check on either anpost.ie or on several china post websites. I opened a dispute on Paypal and escalated it to a claim when my item had not arrived last week.

This morning amazingly it came by registered post and it had the same tracking no. as the seller had sent me
. I could see it arrived in Dublin on Friday as the tracking number doesn't become active on an post until it actually comes into Ireland.

I can see from the package that it was posted on the 30th of July in Shenzhen, China but did not leave China until the 8th of August and it then took another 9 days before it arrived in Dublin on Friday (17th).

This is the only site I could find to track China Post tracking no.s and even then it might take several attempts before it recognises it.
    http://intmail.183.com.cn/item/itemStatusQuery.do

I am wondering now what is the situation as I received the part (Phone Screen) but due to the massive delay in postage I now have no use for it as I told the person I'd have a new screen in from the UK in about a week or less because as far as I was concerned I was buying a part from the UK through ebay.co.uk and not in from China.

I have heard nothing back from PayPal yet but I assume they will find in the sellers favor as he delivered the item even though it took 3 weeks+. I will have no use for the screen now due to his false advertising of delivery dates as the person whom I was going to repair the phone for went and got it done else where.

Report the seller to Ebay and leave negative feedback. You could also send the item back to the seller, if it's a business for a full refund, but return P&P would be at your expense.

Paypal will go in favor of the seller due the item being delivered with tracking.

    Sweet! :)

Paypal found in my favor and I was refunded the cost, he had stated the item was in the UK and shipping was going to be 3 - 5 days and not the three weeks which I had to wait. There is no mention of returning it and I think his actual tracking is what backfired upon the seller as Paypal saw what I was buying and then saw how long he actually took to deliver it.

    A small but sweet victory!

    Not so Sweet

    I got this today
    Dear,

PayPal has concluded the appeal of the following buyer complaint.

Our records show that you received a refund on August 25, 2012, in the amount of $19.99 GBP, in regard to the following buyer complaint:

    Complaint Details:
    Seller's Name:
    Seller's Email:
    Seller's Transaction ID:
    Transaction Date: 27-Jul-2012
    Transaction Amount: -19.99 GBP
    Your Transaction ID:
    Case Number:
However, the seller has subsequently provided the following tracking information to verify shipment of merchandise to you.

    Tracking Number:
    Shipping Company: China Post/Ireland Post

If you have received the merchandise for which you have paid, we request that you return the refund you received by sending a payment to the seller from the Send Money tab of your PayPal account.

If your item has not been received then no further action is needed.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation regarding this matter.

    Sincerely,
I got the item yes but I have no use for it now as the seller fraudulently falsely advertised it and I needed in on time not three weeks later. I am not going to refund the seller the money I got refunded back by Paypal. I wonder what will happen. I am unsure if it is ever a legitimate Paypal email and I think it might be a spoof email from the seller trying to con me into refunding his money after I reported his little false advertising scam.

He also sent me a rather due and abrupt ebay message saying; "YOU GOT ITEM . PLEASE REPAY IT."

I am just going to ignore both emails I think.

i am waiting 36 days for an item i bought on dealextreme.com they are from china, they kept saying its on the way and please wait, but as with the OP i purchased the same product somewhere else and it arrived in three days so i no longer need the original product. i'm off to paypal if it worked for the OP won't hurt me to give it a go. its only 6euro but thats not the point.

Dealextreme can be very slow but you are within your rights to claim from paypal.

It is the principle of the matter.

when i opened a dispute with paypal against dealextreme, i got a confirmation mail from paypal that i opened a dispute and with in the same minute i got a mail from dealextreme saying i was getting a full refund. i then checked my paypall account and there was no mention of me being refunded. the next day i got a mail from dealextreme customer care saying, could i wait another week for my package to arrive. i re checked my paypal and still no change and i'm sure paypal would email me directly if there was any change with the dispute. but still a little odd how both a confirmation email from paypal was immediately followed with one from dealextreme telling me they paid me back when they haven't

    strange

You need to escalate it to a claim. Paypal will do nothing until you do so.

I would expect DX to refund fairly quickly once a claim is raised.

I agree that you will have to dispute it with Paypal.
In fairness, I have never had a 'no show' from China. It just seems to take anything up to 5 weeks to deliver. Customs will hit any large items but seem to let small packages through.
