Audi A6 revs fluctuating whilst driving

I have a queery as new to petrol and Audi.
My A6 1.8T[2001] whilst driving at constant speed the revs go up and down slightly...the engine speed stays the same though...is this a problem raising its head!!

ok so. My sister in law had the same issue on a renault..no slipping, engine noise/speed increases as you would expect when the foot is put on the gas but the rev counter would be all over the place..Ill ak her to see what the prob was.

this is a silly question but have you taken a peak under to see if theirs any leaks rattles blows or hums which seem out of the usual ? no oil slicks whatsoever on the driveway or in the mirror from pulling from the lights...

no extra smoke from the exhaust (without colour change even ) ?

Engine stays the same speed ... I'm assuming the revs sound the same.

If the rev counter is going up and down it could just be faulty.

Checked all pipes etc, no oil anywhere and both revs/speed stay same...thanks for your interest ill keep open eye with it...its an autobox by the way.

Just back from diagnostic check, everything ok with no fault codes showing, they recon it is a rev gauge issue..little wear.
