Clontarf Cycle Track Users: A Request

If you happen to spot a glass bottle or a drinks glass which is likely to smash on the track, could you please pick it up and place it in the nearest bin? This morning I found four or five empty bottles just sitting either side of the track. Most folk just breeze by them. It only takes a bit of attention to notice them and keep the track free of glass. Thanks.

I'm afraid I won't be breaking my rhythm and speed to do so!

Might be better adressed to those who deposited the glass there in the first place.

If I could find each individual person then I would. Do you know which forum they all browse? I suppose I could just hang out on the track at night time with my cape and a plastic bag.

Well it's unlikely to be cyclists (most of whom have their own bottles).

Who said anything about breaking your rhythm and speed? Just reach down as you're passing...

    Thanks, Captain Obvious ;)

Next time a poster doesn't get a puncture on that bit of track, I suggest they come back to this thread and press the thanks button for Raam;)

I say bring back the good old days when you got your penny deposit back for returning the bottle - it may fund Raam's next bike

What are you going to do - suffocate them?:D

Yeh let the broken glass in your flat tyre do that for you!

You'd think in these recessionary times knacker drinking from glass bottles would be beyond the means of most, but obviously not in Clontarf - maybe if they did like we did and made do with plastic flagons it would solve the problem:D

for the record, I've been known to stop and pick up the odd bottle and beer glass - the problem seems particularly acute around the Baldoyle road junction where - presumably - drinkers from the pub cross the road to enjoy the seaviews and sunshine with their beer.

Right so that's Jawgap and me in the club. Wishbone Ash, you are missing out on the fun.

I would gladly use this an excuse to stop and catch my breath.

my rhythm and speed are neither consistent nor fast enough to be worried about breaking them.

I didn't notice any glass today. However, I did see a message to pedestrians written on the ground, along the lines of "Enjoy the walk, retards". I think it was in response to the "Bike ****" message I saw a couple of weeks ago.

They have both been there for ages. Well, a few weeks at least. I saw em both on the same day a few weeks ago having not seen either before.

I think I spend too much time on that track.

I picked one up this morning from the local park, but mainly out of concern for my dogs, every other little fecker who litters the place can go bleed.

Can I join be the west Dublin representative of the club, or have I just not reached the exact moral compass direction yet ?

Just wear some snazzy, matching short and jersey and that can be a start.

Both still there this morning along with the older "Are u happy?" scrawl next to one of the bike symbols - I always reply "Yes, actually I am."

Eh? All he's requesting is that people pop the bottles in bin so others don't get flats or worse. What's strange about that? I cycle fairly regularly on that track and I'd appreciate it if people did it and I'd do the same. Not sure how anyone could have a problem with that.
