PPS document for VRT inspection

hello, just bought a wee 2004 second hand car in NI. Pick it up next week. I'm trying to get all the paperwork ready to book in the VRT inspection with NCT centre once I get the car. The only document I have with my PPS number on it is the letter from Department of Social & Family Affairs Client Identity Services confirming my PPS number when I first moved to Donegal. Will this be acceptable? Do I need an actual document with the PPS number on it or do I just need to know it?

No need for documented proof of PPS no.

The email you get from the test centre when booking a VRT inspection says you need to bring some documents, one of which is listed as:

"You bring your PPS number (on official documentation only) and proof of identity i.e. passport, driving licence. "

Thanks folks. Would the letter I mentioned be considered an official document you reckon?

I agree with you on the official line, I've VRT'd a few without documentation. A bit like wrighting your own receipt.
