A little overpriced. Could be bought out of NY for 30K USD before the passing of AL Grundy.

I thinks it's nice to see the mechanical workings behind producing Lacquers, might interest some here. This has to be the cleanest lathe I have seen in 3 years, not worth 100k though. The fact the acceleration limiter(BSB74) is there doesn't really sell it, you could recoup 10-15k by selling off the AL

Nah. Mastering rooms crying out across the world for lathes. I've seen about 6 public sales this year from storage. It's coming from Flight13 duplication was in a private sale for 20k a couple months back. I say it's a "test the waters" kind of thing going on, hoping to catch some fool. I hope it stays in production and doesn't end up in an audiophiles house in china for a TT.

VMS80/82 are Neumanns top models for around 100k, for cutting copper blanks. Capable of higher freq. There is one sitting in abbey road, another in Paris and crazy scientologist have one transferring their bible thing, Record Industry in Holland have another a private room in switzerland too.

These won't go to museums if year end industry reports are anything to go by.

I know, what I meant was that for that money only a museum or a collector could afford it.

How long would a 100K lathe take to recoup such a large investment? Even in a big market like the states it would take a long long time.

It's an investment and a half. This lathe is not worth the asking price worth between 20-35k and am sure the bids are in that area.

Take a long time to recoup. If you look at your average 12" album from an independent room is somewhere between 600-900 for master, reference dub,and lacquers take away your COGS €100, Electrics charge €20 per cut/master and the investment in outboard/rent/rates/wages. You may as well not think of recouping that investment for 10 years. Alot of lathes in service are own by retired folks and just charge the rental fees on them. There is the scully lathes that sell for 7-12k but you really have to know your maths cause it's all manual without computers. These seem to be very common at the moment.

Europe is doing well against the US for cutting cause it's all based here(Service guys and 48% industry the rest is split between the US and southern hemisphere) The biggest leaders in pressing production are here too. Phonopress, MPO, GZ, Record Industry.

It sickens me to see this kind of stuff on ebay.
