If I get a place in the Audiology course tomorrow [fingers crossed] I shall be going house/apartment hunting afterwards. I'll post wherever I thought was nice when I come home :)

    Hi.

Just finished 4 years in AIT so iv been in a lot of the housing estates n appartments AIT students live in.in my opinion Valley court is where id be looking at, its only 5 mins from the college, is a quiet estate housing families and students.be sure to look around though because there are some nice houses and some not so nice houses in it, I once viewed a house in the estate which the landlord said was student union approved(later found out it wasnt)dont even know if they approve houses 2bh lol the house was a dive to say the least.anyway i had m8s living in valley court two years in a row and the houses were grand and think they were paying 50-60 euro a week in rent.
if you are looking for somewhere thats students only = Glen Abhainn:) its appartments very close to the college, think u pay a 700 euro deposite at the start but this covers electricty bins etc and u get like 100 euro back at the end of the year as far as im aware.otherwise its usually 250 euro deposite for any of the houses n athlone.

Went looking today and I have to saw the Heatherveiw Court apartments were the best, ended up going for them in the end though they were one of the more expensive places. [85 weekly for single en-suite + 650 to cover bills and the likes]

    There were also -
Croi Oige - Didn't like it at all, damp on the walls and very cold. Think it was 75 weekly
Glen Abhainn - Nice enough actually and pretty cheap, would have been my second choice [65 weekly single or 55 twin sharing with 700 for bills and stuff, some of which you may get back at the end]
Wellmount Student village - Ok, pretty much the same as Glen Abhainn for prices but further away from the college itself.

Accommodation was really hard to find everywhere i rang was booked up. Managed to get a place in croi oige due to a cancellation but everywhere else was gone apart from kilmacoo, which i didnt hear very good reviews about.
I'll know to book a place i do really like early for my 2nd year not just because its the only one available
