    Hey, so I was driving and was visiting friend, it's just near phoenix park, there was this guy who put his car on a way into parking, technically there is no yellow lines so he's allowed to park there but it's just retarded, I know many will say there is a gap, but not really, there are bins just around the wall and space is too narrow, either mirrors will break off or something else will while squeezing in.

    What would you do? I ended up parking miles away from that spot.

    Also would require driving onto quite high kerb

    Get council to paint lines. The property is entitled to "right of way".

    Is that a driveway he's blocking?

    This guy is just being an ass, next time he moves get a can of yellow oil based paint and extend those yellow lines yourself.

    You would get a horsebox into that driveway,he 'technically' shouldn't park there but just reverse in and stop looking for things to complain about :D

    You could get him clamped or towed if he was blocking the entrance to your driveway if you lived there I'd imagine.

    its' a very very busy road, it's mean to:
    quickly drive in, and quickly reverse out and drive off. It' the road on which if you keep driving straight there is a gate into phoenix park

    If the road is very busy then it's nearly always safer to reverse in, and drive out. When reversing in, you have good all-round visibility - not the case when trying to reverse out of a driveway.

    1 advantage of that street:
    there is a junction at entrance into phoenix park, and interval for about a minute, so the side closer to house is free for at least a minute so it's very handy to reverse out and drive off easily.
    While the other lane (doing towads park) is always busy either cars flying past (because it's nice straight road) or traffic

    That North Circular Road is always busy enough along that strip there.

    It seems very unfair that you don't have double yellow lines painted there as the house has converted its original garden into a driveway, therefore you should be definitely be entitled to access... Get onto the council about this if it's your own property, or else get the landlord to get onto them.

    Used to be a nightmare that strip of road, although on a recent cycle, I noticed that parking is only on one side now, so it has freed up more space for all road users.

    Slightly OT but we were made reverse into our spaces every morning by our employers. Any one that drives in now gets a warning letter...

    I know that house, and can confirm it would not be easy getting around that car. How long was it there, did he just run into the shop?

    In other countries you need to pay the City Council in order to get them to paint a yellow line on your drive way, I can't say how much but I know it is paid on yearly basis. It is good to know it is not the same in Ireland.

    I don't think he is allowed to park there. He is obstructing access to the driveway.

    From Irish statute book.

    Prohibitions on Parking

    (2) A vehicle shall not be parked—

    ( a ) on that side of a section of roadway along the edge of which traffic sign number RRM 008 [double yellow lines] has been provided;
    ( b ) on a section of roadway where traffic sign number RUS 019 [No Parking sign] has been provided, during the period indicated on the information plate accompanying such traffic sign;
    ( c ) within 5 metres of a road junction;
    ( d ) on a section of roadway with less than 3 traffic lanes and where traffic sign number RRM 001 [continuous white line] has been provided;
    ( e ) on a section of roadway where traffic sign number RUS 020, in association with RRM 029 [appointed stand], has been placed to indicate that an appointed stand has been provided;
    ( f ) in any place, position or manner that will result in the vehicle obstructing, delaying or interfering with the entrance to or exit from a fire brigade station, an ambulance station or a Garda station;
    ( g ) in any place, position or manner that will result in the vehicle obstructing an entrance or an exit for vehicles to or from a premises, save with the consent of the occupier of such premises;

    Well, if it were my driveway, I'd ask the person to move it, assuming its someone visiting locally. Emergency vehicles are prevented from accessing a building by parking in that fashion.
    If it's a once off though, I'd grit my teeth and bear it I guess.

    he seems to have also parked very very close to car in front, and in front car had like a metre from next car, I imagine he had hard time getting out of there if this blue guy didn't left before him

    That car should not be parked there as it is blocking an driveway, had it been my driveway, the car would have been moved.

    OP are you p1ssed cause you couldn't park there? or because you wanted to get into the drive?

    The absence of yellow lines does not mean he can legally park.
    There are many reasons why parking is not allowed.
    This would seem to be a selfish,inconsiderate, person. I suggest you try to speak him first and if no satisfaction, then speak to the guards.
    You should not risk damaging a wheel or tyre by driving over the kerb.

    Shouldn't be parked there, its blocking the entrance to a property, unless they have the permission of everyone there, If it's a one off I'd leave it, but I'd take note and if its a repeat offender I'd look into getting it removed, not sure who'd do that.

    My neigbours relative does that to me in an estate and its exceptionally ignorant, unfortunately it has caused arguments but as anyone doing this is the unreasonable party I'd have no qualms about reporting them to the gardai,

    how can you get someone removed for this?

    I know someone who lives on a busy road. It's too busy during the day to reverse in and it's too dangerous to reverse out in the morning. Every night they have to switch the cars around to be safe getting out

    Contact the Gardaí and report someone blocking access, they have a company who'll lift vehicles or they'll contact DCC to arrange lifting.
