They're part of the Seiko company, which is a good thing - but I don't know how common the parts and manufacturing are between them. I'm no expert, so hopefully someone else can correct me if needs be.

The RRP looks a little high to me, so I don't know if it's really a big saving.

It looks smart though and if the quality is reasonable, it looks a pretty good buy at that price.

€77 is a little expensive for that watch (and the RRP quoted by Debenhams is completely off the scale) - its £50 (€63.55) from WatchShop, who give the RRP as £59.99. Amazon are also a good source of watches in this price range.

Quality of Lorus is decent for the price but they are pretty cheap watches so don't expect anything special - I'd try and have a look at one in a Jewellers here and then buy online if you like it.

OP - have a look at this:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seiko-Mens-Chronograph-Watch-SNDC31P1/dp/B004JY0KP8/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1345458518&sr=8-6

If you scroll down a bit, you'll see a horizontal scroll-bar of lots of similar watches - lots of choice incl. a nice Tissot (good brand, well respected IMO)

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tissot-Gents-PRC200-Chronograph-T17151632/dp/B000B7MBHM/ref=pd_sim_sbs_watches_38

They're both a bit more than the Lorus, but you can't go wrong with a Seiko - Tissot are also well-respected and do some lovely watches if you wanted to spend a bit more:

You can have lots of fun searching for watches on e.g. Amazon and Watchshop.com

Let us know what you buy!

For this money I say you can get a Citizen Ecodrive at Argos (and at Amazon for a lower price, but support the Irish stores if possible). Better choice IMHO if you can live without the chronograph. The Ecodrive is a solar watch does not need battery replacement ever. They are quite tough too.
