best laptop advice 1000 euro

hi all

if u were buying a laptop on a budget of 1000 euro,what wuld the best one u can get be??

im getting a new one and i would like the best i can get,,im into photography and making videos and i would be using it to edit both

i wouldnt mind being able to play battlefeild 3 on it too but if i have to get extra video cards to do that because of my budget it doesnt matter about the games

At Komplett they offer a 17" (1600x900) Acer (€939) and a Lenovo (€829) with a Core i7-3612QM and a GT 630M. The processor is a bit slower than the 3610QM but more power efficient. The GT 630M of course is no match for the GT 650M and not really suitable for gaming at high resolutions.

But even after cashback more expensive than the Clevo/Schenker, if you choose the default 1600x900 display. I have picked the full HD display only because video editing has been mentioned.

I see, the GT 650M in the Sammy has 2 GB RAM, but they don't specify the memory type, it could be DDR3 or GDDR5, which makes quite a difference.

I mean the VRAM. Notebookcheck has a review of the Samsung here, apparently it's DDR3:

Since you mentioned Battlefield 3 as reference...

1. The Dell has only integrated graphics, which means no gaming beyond Solitaire.

2. I don't see anything about the GPU in the HP. It could be a HD 6490M which, depending on the memory speed (DDR3 or GDDR5), will run BF3 with low or medium settings.

3. The GT 640M in the Acer should run BF3 with medium settings at 1366x768 (DDR3 being a bottleneck).

All of these have only 2nd generation Core i7 processors, the one in the Acer is the ultra low voltage variant with only 2 cores. While they're not bad performers, you will be paying quite a lot of money for a two year old technology.

And as I said before, the GT 650M comes with two different memory types. The devil is in the details, GDDR5 makes a helluva difference. Dell usually does not mention the VRAM type, you might contact them and ask before you spend a lot of money and find the performance somewhat disappointing, and you will need a lot of graphics power if you want to play BF3 @ full HD...

I'd say, the Schenker is probably the best performer you'll get for less than a grand. You'll get the latest Core i7 quad CPU, 8 GB RAM, a full HD display and the GT 650M with GDDR5 VRAM should suit your needs re gaming and video editing (e.g. with Adobe Premiere which benefits from CUDA). You will need an operating system though, but you can buy it cheaper here.

Or get a set of keyboard stickers.

OS needs to be changed to English as well, but the license key works for the corresponding English OEM version.

They're both nice machines but the display size only 15.6".
