Writing here on behalf other person.

Ford Focus Estate, 1.4 petrol engine, 2001., manual gearbox.

Problem is, revs acting chaotic , whatever car is cold or warm, most of the time high revs.

Accelerator cable checked, ok, vacuum pipes checked, ok.

    What could be problem. ?

    Thanks

    Thanks for idea.

Now i got more accurate information (it is hard retrieve it from female :D ), so now problem not look so bad, but stil unknown...

It revs, when changing gear, for 10 sec, than revs drop, if wait 10 sec for each gear change, bit annoying.

    Any idea ?

would faulty coilpack would cause revs stay high between gear changes ? no any lights on dash. no misfires.

If it was the coil pack it would definitely misfire at low revs, i had a 99 focus and what you describe is similar to what the car behaved like before i changed the MAF. Used way more petrol aswell

The various wild guess suggestions above are just that, wild guesses. OP i suggest you buy/loan a fault code readed or have the ECU read by a garage to see what if any fault codes are present. Then we may be able to help you. Anything else is just shooting in the dark and you could end up replacing many perfectly good parts for no reason if a trial and error approch is adopted. How many threads have we seen where many parts (MAFSs in particular for some reason) are replaced in hit and miss fashion but to no avail or improvement. And the coil pack suggestion is off the wall entirely - a faulty coil and thus poor sparking would result in the engine misfireing and dying - not wild revving. It seems some on here lack knowledge of some fundamental principles of ICEs. I have my own hunches about this prob, but I'm not saying until a code is available.

    Did you not drive it???
It could be the clutch slipping from what you've described.

calm down ! of course they are wild guesses without seeing the car! they are suggestions of what to check out, which is what the OP wanted. Oh and good luck with the code...the previous owner of my Focus replaced a pile of bits with the code, and I fixed it having searched the net.....

The MAF sensor issue on a Focus is widely known to cause hunting/erratic revs at idle. As has been pointed out of course it is only a hunch, that's all we can offer without either an error code or seeing/hearing the car ourselves, but it sounds like a good hunch in this case to me, which is why I suggested it be a point of interest.

Also no need to replace the MAF quite yet, simply cleaning the existing one may show an improvement in the problem and will help you diagnose that it may indeed be on the way out.
