    Hi all,
Recently started a new job, that's for a temporary position (3 months). I may have a better, permanent position on offer, that I would like to take.

I am wondering what notice must I give? As its a temporary contract, and I'm there less than 13 weeks, is it just 1 week I need to give? In my contract it states a month, but I didn't think that applies for temporary contracts.

    Many thanks

Why wouldn't it apply to temp contracts? Once there's nothing that conflicts with the law (e.g. less notice that the statutory minimum), I don't know why that wouldn't be binding.

Thanks for the reply Eoin. Went back through my contract, and whilst it states that I must give one month, it states the first 3 months are classed as probationary, and I only need to give 1 week. Case closed :)

    When it rains it pours!

Funny how this seems to happen so often: people spend months looking for work and suddenly get offered two jobs at the same time. I wonder is it just probability (this is bound to happen every now and then but we just notice it as strange so think it happens more often) or is it something like during XYZ week you were in a great mood so your interviews went better.

Just make sure you have the contract for the new job signed before you give your notice!
