Hi, the cutoff for this last year was 510 (random selection) according to the CAO site. Does anyone know if any HEAR applications got in and if so what points? Say points for this course increased due to honours maths weighting alone, it would be around 535. What sort of reduced points may get someone into the course?

Oh God I hope it doesn't go up to 535, it couldn't go up 25 points could it!?
    I only have 510.
HEAR, please be nice to me.

Was reading an article earlier in the paper, saying that the expectation is that it'll mostly be the science and computing courses impacted, and hopefully the effect to the arts will be minimal. My daughter has psychology in UCD down first but slipped up and never realized that psychology was available in DCU as well as it's under science. Did you put the DCU course down as well?
God, I feel today is going to be a long one !!

I'm just afraid that that may include Psychology as it technically is a science, although a BA is generally awarded. Hopefully there won't be a huge increase in points.
Oh so she has UCD down and would prefer DCU?
I have DCU down too but is quite far down the list as the course is not yet accredited by the PSI, and so the degree would not count for much. It is more than likely though that by the time the course is completed, 3/4 years, it will have gained accredition but I was still a bit wary.

She has psychology in UCD down first and that's definitely her first preference, then communications in DCU second which she said she would be thrilled to get, but had she known there was psychology in DCU she would have put that ahead of communications. I'm worried psychology may jump up due to the maths weighting. If it comes in at 505 in the newspapers then like yourself she'll be clear, but if it's higher then it's a waiting game for the CAO offers through HEAR for another few hours. Initially her big concern was whether she'd clear enough points to be safe for communications so it's not a bad quandry to be in, but all the permutations are doing my head in now : )

Maybe DCU would allow an internal transfer to Psychology if she were to receive Communications?
    You should ring them up!
I dont think there is any real way of knowing, just wait and see I guess.
Best of luck to her anyways. :)

Thanks, that's what we're thinking, once we know how everything pans out in the morning she can sit back and have a proper think. Thanks : )
