Hello all, just wondering if any knows a quick way to disable the flash on the 5D without using the off switch on the flash. I know it can be done via the menu systems but it's buried 3 levels deep.

Apparently, on Nikon's the DOF button can be used to disable flash temporarily. Can anything similar be done on the 5D?

    Thanks.

Should be under flash control, tho I'm not sure about the 5Dii.

It was first added to the 1Dmkiii and I can create a shortcut to it on my 7D, should be similar.

Thanks 5uspect, yes it can be done via the menu system but it takes too long. I want to be able to check ambient light/exposure quickly or turn flash on and off quickly out-doors.

So there's no quick menu, user menu or multifunction button you can register these options to? Usually you can configure the back focus button etc.

EDIT: so the 5Dii also as the 'My Menu' feature. Just add the external flash firing option to the top of this menu and it should only be a few quick taps away. I've added the entire flash control group here myself.
