I'm trying to put a front mudguard on my mountain bike but the damn forks have no eyelets for the mudguard.

So i done a bit of searching on the net and apparently all i need is a P Clamp with a bit of rubber on it and it will hold my guard in place. So today i've tried 2 motor factors and 2 hardware stores, only one of the motor factors had them. But i need one that's 100mm diameter to fit the big fat buggering forks on the bike, the biggest the motor factors had was only 20mm !

So i've been looking on the net and the biggest i can find on ebay are only 40mm. Anyone know is it possible to get 100mm diameter p clamps or will i have to use a jubilee clip or something to hold the guard on ?

And yes i know i should have checked the forks before i bought the guards but well i just kinda assumed

WTF? 100mm is circa my forearm. what the hell sort of forks have you got? motorbike or something? is it suspension? you can't attach mudgaurds to the legs of suspension forks, only the crown, as the distance changes with travel

On a MTB, the front guard is often secured with an expanding plug in the underneath of the steering tube. I got some in Halfords for my son's bike.
Alternatively, sme bikes have locating holes on the fork bridge

Topeak Defender worked on my MTB.

I have a Topeak Defender on the front. Quite durable.

Well this got me thinking that something has to be wrong with my measurements sooo decided i needed to do the measure twice and cut once trick.

And well it seems i've got me diameters mixed up with my circumferences....:o:o:o, the 100mm is the errr mmmmm well the circumference of the ermmm fork :o:o:o and the diameter is in or around 35mm, so think it's back to ebay :o:o:o

Anyway i can attach the mudguard to to forks because there is one of them brackets attached to the fork so the mudguard won't travel with the suspension.

Thanks route66 for the halfords expanding plug tip.

And thanks Monkeypants for the recommendation on the Topeak Defender.
