ACCA lectures in Dublin

    Hi

I will be starting the lectures for ACCA soon in Dublin and I am wondering what others are doing. I understand BPP were one of the best choices for it, but all foundation papers are now being done online which I am a bit weary of. I am looking to do F5 and F8 but they are the same night in GCD Tara Street so I would have to do one on each campus or do them both with DBS. I haven't really looked at anywhere else because I'd imagine they will be hard to get to in the evenings in time after work. I have covered alot of the material for F5 already so I may not do these lectures, I am not fully decided yet. Just looking for opinions on the colleges from others and looking to get a feel of what others are planning to do! I need to decide soon and I'm not entirely sure what I want to do. Thanks for any help!

    Hi

I did both last sitting.I did home study. If you have experience in f5 then I wouldnt go to classes. It's not that difficult to do yourself using past papers as a guide. My paper was a disaster (not a nice paper) but I passed with 66%. Very doable (depending on motivation) at home.

F8 I also wouldn't go to class. As it is theory, your lecturer will probably just read from the book. I found it easy enough but I tend to be better on theory and enjoyed this paper. There are some great technical articles. Know past papers inside out and always remember to explain WHY you are doing something (rather than saying compare last years balance. Say compare Because...)

Didn't know BPP only do online for the f's. They told me they don't sell the books anymore bu could order online but there was a delivery charge so I got them from book depository. Free postage. I really like BPP books.

I've been to DBS before and like them but of course it depends on the lecturer.

So what are you recommending, purchase the BPP books and study at home without any lectures or is there a home study course offered by someone for both these modules? I'd probably take it in easier in a classroom environment, not sure what to do yet! Ya BPP F papers will be all done through a live classroom online thing and the P papers will still be done face to face. They only offer international version of F8 though and I assume the Irish version would be better for me!

Personally, yes I'd home study just by buying the books. Open tuition and acca do some videos for some topics which are helpful. I'm trying to put off lectures until the p's or f7 maybe. but if you fell you'd be better in a classroom then go for it.

You sound as if you understand f5, it's not that complicated. I did f8 international. I think most do the international variant, though il be doing Irish tax and have done Irish law
