College is still there (someone in our house is half-way through the 4-year Level 8) - apparently they had interviews during the week.

I meant the Dun Laoghaire branch, by the way - I think they also have a premises in Cork or something like that?

The DL branch is undergoing some changes, I'd guess, from what I heard (a new Director, perhaps), and there was a rumour that the new year/term/semester may not start until October - it's just a rumour that my daughter heard - perhaps because they are re-jigging things around under the new leadership. The impression we've got is that the 4-year course is possibly a bit drawn-out - and the organisation of things hasn't always been superb, shall be say; not notifying students in time of time-table changes, cancellation of classes, etc. But having said that, our experience of UCD hasn't been that much better. Hopefully things will improve all round.

I just asked daughter if St Nicholas tend to answer the phones (??), and she said 'yeah, no, maybe' (!!!!!). She thinks e-mail is better - but I can appreciate that if you're enquiring about attending the college you'd like to be in contact with them sooner than later. I'm wondering now if the 'interviews' she mentioned were actually for staff?

I've to try phoning them during the week to ask for a receipt to be posted out to me; will see if I get a reply!

There isn't accommodation for the College, but they were given a booklet on their induction day quoting websites re accommodation in the area. A bit late to be given the info (and of course she hasn't got the booklet anymore...typical!). The fact that the College is based in Dun Laoghaire means it's probably easier to get accommodation less expensively in the area.

She thinks it's a good College - a day off a week, and nice hours (!!!!!).
