Not as far as I know but you can ring your insurance company and get them to switch cover onto a different car for a day or so. It shouldn't cost you anything. I've done that before when selling my old car.

You only need ins. to drive to the test.
It dos'nt need ins. to be tested.

The car doesn't need insurance to be tested but, unless you transfer the insurance back to the 'old' car for the day, you obviously can't drive it there.
Your mechanic's insurance should cover him to drive your uninsured car to the NCT centre - this could be an alternative solution.

This question was only asked and is still fresh on page 1 in motors. No insurance or tax is needed for an nct, but to get there, tax and insurance are needed. Transfer insurance for the few hours you will be gone. Wont be an issue.

If the insurance company want big money as an administration charge just tow the car there... and hope the testers don't see haha.

Towing uninsured cars on a rope is not a good idea, possibly illegal.

Get a friend who's insurance covers driving other cars to drive it to and from the nct centre. Job done.
