Hopefully somebody here can shed a little light on this

    07 Bravo, 1.4l Fire

    Approx. 46k miles

Now heres the quandry, book says timing belt change at 72k miles, but a number of forums online suggest half this milage.

Is this just being over-cautious or are there known issues with these timing belts

Possible the forums refer to the 1.4 12 valve model from the 90s?

Some do colm-mcm, but the last one i looked at refered to the newer (07 onwards) model.

Granted the initial discussion was with regards to the diesel t-jet version, but further down the recommendation was given across boteh petrol and diesel models

Is it just a throwback to problems that existed with the earlier model??

Just from doing quick trawling it seems owners of late stilos and panda 100hp (same engine as you have) are doing them early too. I'd err on the side of caution. Getting a used 1.4 enine would be nigh on impossible in this country if it goes wallop

The replacement interval is every 72k or 5 years, which every comes first so your car is due a change now regardless of the mileage.
