I don't normally post in this section of boards but if I'm in the wrong place can the mods move this to the correct place.

Right so I wan't to get insured on my da's car, before he signs the log book over to me and cancels his insurance can i :

Insure for third party with a different insurer while he is insured for fully comp meaning I'm covered to drive the car and so is he?
Can two people be insured on a different policy on one car, i know there's named driver but the insurance i'm on right now is with aviva and its their edt cover drive scheme where im not insured without him being in the car with me. I'd rather my own insurance so i can have use of the car for going to work etc. without him having to sit beside me and then come and collect me.

Any help on this matter would be greatley appreciated :)

You can't have two insurance policies on the one vehicle. If the vehicle is in your fathers name you have to be a named driver on his policy. If/When the vehicle is in your name, you would have to take out a policy in your name.
