Someone asked me a question about this recently. Does Bord na Mona still turf? As I understood it, they only harvest peat now for power stations, making briquettes, for use in sewage and odor treatment systems and for making peat moss for gardening. Years ago, baggers used to harvest the peat in order to make sods for burning in power stations. I think turf harvesting is only a private operation now?
