Got word as I'm sure many did that local aib branch is closing. As it happens bank of Ireland have branch in local town also which is staying open. Question is do I move to bank of Ireland locally of stick with aib and move my account to next branch in next town?

Anyone know any pros or cons for this?

If there's a post office in your town then you can keep your AIB account and carry out transactions through the PO. AIB already have an agreement with An Post which they are expanding as they close branches.

Not sure if there'll be additional charges for this but there should be more information on AIB.ie. One likely drawback is that it'll take an extra day for any cheques lodged to hit your account
