    Hi Guys

I tried to flash my Samung Galaxy S with a new kernel which has gone really bad and the phone will not boot up. Going over what I did I think I flashed a kernel for Android 2.3 instead of Android 2.2 which is what my phone was running.

What is my best course of action? I'd like to restore the phone or put on a new ROM, just make it usable again. I've been looking on XDA developers but I can't find a thread that covers my situation. That is restoring a Galaxy after it has been bricked!

If anyone knows of a process or XDA thread could you let me know and I'll take it from there.

Again, I was foolish to go flashing the kernel.

Can you get into download mode by holding volume down and home and then pressing power?

    Hi PogMoThoin

Thanks for the help. I followed your article on flashing the Galaxy S and it worked perfectly. I really appreciate your help. My phone is now running CyanogenMod7. I might update to version 9 soon. I've kept all the files just in case this happens again.

    Thanks again.

Get Ice Cream Sandwich on there, CM7 is old and dated
