i am thinking of buying a nikon 3100 but instead of the kit lens, im getting an 18-105 instead ,are there any disadvantages to this lens? as opposed to the kit lens for general use, i am moving from a fuji f 5500 which has a wide angle to zoom on so i am trying to replicate that on my new camera

correct me if im wrong but the 3200 seem to have the biggest gain in video performance,ok megapixel count is greater but i recon 14 million is plenty for my needs as to be honest i seldom print photos but i like to take good lanscapes, cityscapes as momentos of travel holidays

I have a D3100. Reading http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikon-d3200/ and the big difference I see between the two (apart from the sensor) is that the D3200 is ready for an optional remote trigger.

thanks for that vic is there not a remote option for the 3100, i thought there was, i still think the differences do not justify the extra 200 euro the 3200 costs

Not made by Nikon. There's this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wireless-Shutter-Control-Release-Digital/dp/B004X7H7C0/ref=pd_sim_ph_1 I'll let you know how I get on with it as I'm waiting on delivery of one.

Update: Remote arrived and works. No instructions but it's not exactly rocket science to work out what goes where :)

Another thing that both the D3100 & D3200 lack is exposure bracketing so if you're planning on taking any HDR shots that'll make things slightly more difficult.
