    Hi Guys

In conjunction with the release of their new iPhone and Android App, Carton House are running a small competition.

To celebrate the launch of their new app they are offering one lucky winner the chance to win an overnight stay for two including breakfast and unlimited next day golf, just download the Carton House App and email a picture of the App on your smartphone to sales@cartonhouse.com

T&C's apply. Competition closes on the 21st August 2012.

I am quite biased but I think that as free golf apps go it is really good, the measuring tool requires no connection and in offline mode it is accurate to less than 1 metre.

It has a lot of video, Flybys pro tips etc so is quite big, but well worth a look.

Ridiculous size app...140 mb I think

It's big all right but I wouldn't say rediculously big. Most of the size is due to the HD flybys in the app.

We will be doing an update soon where we will remove the green rotational view, that will reduce by 60mb.

So 80mb is not big by today standard, it's hard to get all he functionality and high quality and keep the size down, alternative would be to have them as standalone downloads but that can hit users data limits the current way is only by wifi.

Thanks for the reply though it's always good to get any feedback. When you are working on development for over two years it is easy to lose touch with what the user may want.

In light of the what users what comment (dont tense up!)

I've a Lumia, is it difficult to port?

Also, I cant use it in comp as my iphone breaks all the distance measuring restrictions as it can do more, so its aimed at casual play only then?

Good timing for the question, with Windows phones looking like 20% market share next year we have just started on building a windows phone version. The coding is not a huge job it is how our custom software exports that is the big job for us. I would estimate 6 months before we are ready. sorry !!!

And yes while the R&A have it banned for competition it is only for casual play and for anybody who has not played teh course before.
