Probably alot of older threads on fuel cards but I'd been using topaz fuel card for a number of years. always on par with my local station which would be 3-5 cents cheaper than city rates and it always offered an easy way to keep on eye on spend. Just noticed however that the prices are no longer on par with local station and have'nt been for last 3 weeks, they are no on par with city pump prices.. with that in mind, as i throw my card away, i thought i'll let others know..

You know you don't have to use it.

The price fluctuates, many a time it have been ~4c cheaper where i am. still is 2c cheaper atm.

yeah same thing with DCI, was grand from the start of the year up to around mid May (i think), it then gradually got expensive.. So I will 'park' it on the side until the price becomes reasonable again.

Incidentally what price are you getting on the Topaz card? (Just for comparison purpose..)

My last update on Tuesday for DCI is 128.99 which work out to 1.586 per litre of diesel.

Fuel card used to be 3 - 4 cent cheaper than local prices, but now its higher sometimes. Need to ween myself off the card and back to cash transactions

I have one of these and I no longer use it as the petrol in the local station is the cheapest around so I go there now instead.

I got one of these recently but haven't used it. It's always more expensive than paying cash.

    Yes same here.
I dont know why they bother having the card when the prices arent advantageous?

Got the topaz fuel card free from AXA with the insurance. Big waste of time really. Doesn't matter though as card is free and there's no fees.

Card is useful when prices are going down because they anticipate the decreases, so you get it early. And vice versa for the ever infuriating increases. :(
New price set today for diesel is 159.72c incl. VAT. Absolutley crazy price!

    DCI Card

Have parked mine recently due to their increased costs. But just noticed an invoice for what looks like the cost of the cards (aprox €2). Anybody else get this sort of charge. Nothing was mentioned to me when applying...

    Thanks

I have a Topaz card the last 5/6 years and while it may sometimes be dearer than the pump price, at max it'll only be a few quid, and for me anyway who was filling the tank @ roughly €100 a week until recently it wasn't much of a difference.

The convenience of not needing to have cash on you (especially the week before payday) and only getting 1 fuel bill a month far outweighs a few euro's saving

    But that's just me

I pay by credit card always, and pay off my credit card bill at the EOM.
Theres one bill a month, and not losing the few Euros saving.
