Freeview box, can it pick up saorview channels?

Can a freeview box pick up the saorview channels? We have a dvd player that can pick up freeview, which i think is the uk version. You can do a search for digital channels but it doesn't seem to pick up the saorview at all.

A regular Freeview box will not work, a Freeview HD box will work in most cases. Your DVD player might have been designed to work in different countries, so might work although advertised as "Freeview" in the UK.

I assume it is a DVD Recorder? What make and model?
My guess is its MPEG2 only, so won't receive FreeviewHD or Saorview.
