Anybody seen these yet? Very tired of only seeing 2.0 drives that want to only work with 2x USB ports. I'd rather not spend $40 on a drive that does so when I can taste 3.0 drives around the corner that will only need a single port. Plus my laptop only has 2 USB ports, and my Tablet only has 1.

If you rather want to spend $70, here is one. ;)

Whether they make sense is another matter, the DVD read/write transfer speed is well within the USB 2.0 specifications. And I have not seen an external DVD writer that didn't work on a single port although most of them do have a 2nd USB plug for backup power supply.

I think Overheal is looking for one that uses USB3 so it can run 1.5A and not need a second cable as a charger.

There's external DVD drives that will run fine from a single USB 2.0 port. Newer optical drives use a lot less power than they did a few years ago.

And transfer speeds are bottlenecked by how fast you can spin a disc before it explodes so USB 2.0 is plenty fast.

Even the ones with a twin cable usually work fine from a single port. They come with the twin cable because power from a USB port on an old laptop that isn't plugged in may drop, but a modern laptop or one plugged in should be ok.
