It's not cool with cycling fashionistas, but personally I think you can wear anything you like. Don't own any myself but I have no big issues with it.

ok what about kits by live strong etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,235 ✭✭✭✭Cee-Jay-Cee

Do you really need others to tell you what to wear? I wear what i like, when i like and no one is going to tell me different. If others choose not to wear pro jerseys then thats fine, dont wear them, but if you want to the work away.

I have one team subaru jersey that i wear, i dont know if subaru actually have a team anymore but i dont honestly care. I drive a subaru and thats the reason i picked it. I like it, i dont care if others dont.

    Have regard to Rule 17.

The biggest sartorial faux pas you can make is to have a different bike to that of your jerseys sponsor, I nearly bought a Cube jersey, LBS man checked me just in time. I would have died of the embarrassment.

I bought a jersey in Decathlon the other day for £2.59. It's green.

They also had Black, red and blue ones but they were twice the price. :)

I was given a yellow TDF replica jersey. It's a good quality jersey but I've never worn because "great riding ability" continues to elude me. Thinking about dying it red or something or else just leaving it at the bottom of the increasingly large pile jerseys. Decisions decisions....

On our recent pyrenees trip, manafana certainly was chatting to a dude that would fall short on this whilst climbing the col du port.
Yellow paint job bmc, and yellow helmet iirc. Black jersey though.

Xpose might do a feature about the do's and don'ts about cycling gear.

Will my Pok a Dot jersey clash with my yellow helmet?

And Brendan Courtney might do a feature on saddles and saddle positions

I wear the cheapest stuff I can find (just bought these on Amazon, and very pleased).

The only team stuff I'd ever wear is the previous season stuff they sell off cheap!

I bought this recently. Nice (and cheapish.)

You could wear a Ag2r La Mondiale jersey and other cyclists would believe you are performing better than the Professional Ag2r cyclists who were at the TDF and other tours this year!!!

    Cycling gear is expensive.
If you find cheap kit buy it and wear it.
0I picked up a HTC Highroad jersey for €25 so I wear that regularly.
Don't see the difference between that and some lad turning up for a kickaround in some football jersey.

Wear what you want. I do and I couldn't give a fiddlers what others think. I don't know them anyway so who cares. Besides if people are that shallow about this that says more about them than it does you.

There's many on here with that type of snobbery who not that long ago were ordering Boards.ie jerseys

    Thats pretty much it!
Life's to short to worry too much what other people think. The most important thing is to get out and ride. If you find something to wear that makes you do that then its cool..

Would have no issue wearing the jerseys that certain people are paid to wear.

Wouldn't wear the ones that have to be earned.

if you wear a yellow jersey.... ......develop a thick skin (or great riding ability)
......and don't let a certain French man catch you! :)

The other thing to remember is that it is difficult to recognise ripple when they're wearing helmet, glasses (usually) and cycling gear. I regularly meet other cyclist (both while out cycling and driving) but I have yet to recognise a single person. So wear what you want, no one will know you anyway.

If you're going to wear a polka dot jersey to a sportive, at least be sure you can get up the hills without walking.
At least one culprit at the SKT.
Also, one of my highlights was overtaking Mark Cavendish after the 2nd food stop.
    :pac:

I look at it differently ... Wear what u want but where does the money go?

Im the same with footy shirts, i have Newcastle and swindon shirts, 2 teams i support so i've no prob with some of my hard earned making it their way ... No matter how nice the next arsenal, chelsea shirts are, i aint ever getting one of them!

I love watching cycling, do i support any one rider or team enough to buy a jersey and 'support' them, afraid not

You couldn't really, could you? They'd be bound to let you down at some stage.
