    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/17/world/africa/south-african-police-fire-on-striking-miners.html

MARIKANA, South Africa — South African police fired on machete-wielding workers engaged in a wildcat strike at a platinum mine here Thursday, leaving a field strewn with bodies and a deepening fault line between the governing African National Congress and a nation that, 18 years after the end of apartheid, is increasingly impatient with deep poverty, rampant unemployment and yawning inequality.

I think it could be, if we let the powers that be walk all over us.
Opinions, people. And no "whats the conspiracy?" nonsense!!

If you cant see that South Africa is far from a civilised society then **** off!!!

Do you really think this sort of carry on will go on in Ireland

    whats the conspiracy?

Pretty shocking videos of this on YouTube. However this type of stuff has been happening in SA for decades and the legacy of apartheid lives on there. So no this is not the shape of things to come...it is yet another tragedy in a deeply divided country.

So yeah what about the US/UK

Probably time to trot out the "Wake Up" message now

And by the way you actually sicken me by pretending to feel sympathy towards the victims you constantly disrespect by spouting bull**** about why they died

I highlighted the important part. Here's another important part from the article:
For the past three days, workers with machetes, sticks and wooden cudgels occupied an outcropping of rock near the mine, chanting and dancing, pledging their readiness to die if their demands were not met.

Two policemen were already killed by the protesters. I'm not saying who's right and who's wrong in grand scheme of things, but if you're armed and a crowd of people with machetes who had already killed some of your colleagues, came running at you, you shoot them.

The mob were armed with machetes and clubs and baying for blood.
The cops had no choice but to kill or be killed.
Horrific but if they had not attacked the police then this would not have happened.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,831 ✭✭✭Torakx

If it was daylight hours they were fools to do a violent protest.
A violent protest is doomed to failure anyway. You either take up violence or you protest imo.
And i dissagree with the latter as an effective means to an end.
Its sad to see this stuff happening though.Such a waste.

Unfortunately true. They must be really desperate to do that and if they had not protested in the first place they would have to exist on whatever wage their employers gave them. maybe by not protesting at all they might have had their wages cut or cut more.
I also believe they wanted their wages tripled! Sounds like a lot but i would like to know how much it is as it stands. Triple small money is still small, if you catch my drift.

    Desperate people do desperate things.

Too many chefs in that kitchen politically speaking.
So many continents trying to get their hands on their resources, those poor folks havent a chance :(

They should be sneaking up in the night and taking out the puppets in charge for over seas interests...
But the kicker is when you want to take over a place you make sure they cant get a proper education.
Which leaves violence as the only expression and violence without proper direction is probably what they dont mind handling over there.

I think it was a raise to something like £900 a month, plus they wanted better working conditions.

The miners want their pay increased from about 500 dollars a month to 1500 dollars a month. The trade unions were in there of course whipping them up, earlier in the week about a dozen were killed including 2 police hacked to death. Powder keg situation, and life is still cheap in SA. There were plenty of peaceful ways in which this could have been dealt with.

Can someone please tell me what the conspiracy theory is?

Oh yes we are well ahead of the third world countries, to a point where we wont even protest or even worse dont realise whats happening.
School aside, there are plenty of ways to socially condition the masses that are plugged inot mainstream media and id even say resources now for the new age movements too.

Im guessing the west are trying to implement a left brain dominant educational system there, as its worked wonders over here for making consumers and upping production.

The shape of things to come i think for africa is pretty much what we have here.
A distracted bunch of dislocated families/communities getting guidance from media and government, lead by a majority who focus on linear shorterm goals and materialism.

Ive already looked at what Bill Gates and Monsanto are up to over there, its scary stuff.
People praising them for their charity while they set out a longterm plan that could be devastating.

You are guessing or you know? there's a massive difference.

Really, are you moaning about our society compared to Africa? Do you really want to compare?

Please share the well researched non-propaganda factual information on the "scary stuff" that Bill Gates is doing..

Have you looked into what they're doing or into what some people say they are doing?

Yes i have done both about a year or two ago.I presume not much has changed in their strategies since then, so excuse me if i dont go research this again.

Its quite understandable a majority would dissagree with me anyway, considering the things ive mentioned earlier and in many other threads, i would be wrong if they didnt.
And before someone tries to bump their post count for nothing, i dont take that as evidence im correct. Its just a funny observation on my viewpoints and how the world in general view them.

Also johnny when i say "im guessing" it actually means im guessing based on any previous knowledge i might have on a subject.
Which as you say quite obviously is not the same as "i know" which is why i said "im guessing". if i had physical evidence for alot of what i said, i would be using alot more "i know" in my posts.

Does anyone think there isnt any agenda to implement a western lifestyle to third world countries?

You mean Africans aspire to our way of living whereby we have to invent problems on internet boards?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,831 ✭✭✭Torakx

How do africans know our way of living? word of mouth? or the media?
To reach that far from the west its either mass media or prioritized media imo.
    This sells ideas.
Children when offered sweets ussually gobble them up until they are ill.
Its human nature to want nice things and when ignorant it can be hazardous.

The chicken or the egg theory doesnt even apply here.
Africans didnt invent tv and suddenly discover cars on it, it was brought in with everything else to create consumers and accomodate social change. Some of its good, some of its not good.
In the end i believ the overall goal is to make it look like its being improved while the rich reap what they sow.

Unfortunatly its GM food they are sowing among other nasty things.
Thee are other ways to solve africas problems but none seem worthy that require true altruism.

Are you here to just bitch and moan at everyone that has a theory on something. At people that might have a different opinion on something than you? Get a grip of yourself please. If you are having such a hard time understanding what conspiracy theories are then maybe, just maybe the conspiracy theory forum isn't for you.

What's this about the scary stuff Bill Gates is doing?

    The facts:

    He was a computer geek.
He started a company that made software.
    The company did quite well.
    He made billions.
He doesn't care for money, so practices philanthropy an awful lot.

The above are facts. So what are the facts about the scary stuff? What are his motives given that he was just a rich computer geek? Is he getting paid by the elites? Does he need their money?!

PS I hate when people mention about the "research" they do. Reading blogs written by nut jobs and watching scaremongering videos is not research. If there is research then present the results.

This isnt a Bill gates thread, but you are correct to question my comments.
It was roughly a year or two ago i researched this topic and honestly i cant remember half of it, only that i did not like the sh1t they were up to one bit.

Just because some newspaper or whatever says somethign is fact or the gov says its fact does not make it true.
Nobody here really knows anything for a fact about Bill Gates.
For all we know he could be into animal sacrifice on the weekends and dressing up as a woman for his webcams..

How do you know he isnt in one of these boys clubs that gets you ahead in bussiness...maybe with strings attached.
Im not stating facts here, im just saying...nothig in this world is certain. Its likely he started his company with his idea and managed to become a zillionaire all by himself...but i personally doubt it,in the same way presidents of the US dont just win votes and after the election focus on the job as president. They owe ALOT of favours.
They are all handpicked probably for the last 50+ years.
Try researching what BG and monsanto are doing in your own time.Take a look at GM foods.Consider the future and both parties past records.

If you dont find dirt on Monsanto you are in denial..id understand if you dont get much on Bill Gates apart from crazy blogs form mac users lol.

If needs be post a thread and maybe others will share info,i a little tired to be researching online.Infected tooth :(

    Ridiculous thing to say

You are talking absolute bull crap there mate. Its not fair to make accusations against someone because it's possible he is a satanist. What a load of rubbish.

Ps - what a surprise that you can't give one fact about the scary stuff he is doing...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,831 ✭✭✭Torakx

I dont know if this is the thread but its a starting point if you really want to look into it.
I flicked through as far as page 5.
From your quick responses i can guess the replies already, but sure have a looksie.
I reckon the further along you look int the thread the more coherent it will appear lol

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055843506

also if you read my post again you will see i made no accusations about him beign a satanist.
I think as close as i came was to question your befliefs on him,by asking how you know he isnt in one of those boys clubs.
Not saying he is..but im am saying how do you know he isnt?
My point was the newspapers dont tell us everything. And nothing is certain.
I make my oppinions according to what i see them doing.
He is(afaik) associating with some nefarious types which says alot to me.

If you have issue with that thread i posted you could necro it or post a new one refuting said conspiracy theory.
But i will try not to reply again off topic. This thread is about a mining incident.
I would imagine Bill gates and/or monsanto are focussed on vacinnes/food.
