Unplug main Sky box, causes no satellite signal on multiroom box?

    Hey,

I have multiroom in one room upstairs and normal Sky in the living room.

My Dad has a habit of unplugging everything when he goes to bed, and when the main Sky box, the multiroom box loses a lot of channels (no satellite signal). The only way to get the channels back is to disconnect the satellite cable from the sky box and reconnect it, then the channels come back.

Not all channels go. Channels like History stay, and channels such as Dave, all the Irish stations go.

I have a 1.5m-2m patch cable between the Sky cable and the multiroom box as I moved room around since Sky installation and Sky never left enough cable, so I bought a patch cable in Maplin.

    Anyone have any ideas?

How is the 'patch' cable connected between the 'sky' cable & sky box? Patch Cable should be proper quality satellite cable & Join should be seamless - possibly two F connectors with barrel piece inbetween. Realistically the cable should run from the dish to the sky box without any breaks in the cable due to the nature of the RF frequency & shielding. That aside, check to ensure the LNB power is switched on on alternative sky box -Services button> 4> 0> 1>.

    Hope that helps.

Yeah, you got it exactly. This is the patch cable. http://www.maplin.co.uk/f-plug-to-f-plug-leads-29536 with a barrel connecting them.

It works fine when main box is plugged in, and I'm stumped when it comes to satellite etc.

Funny thing is, as soon as I post the question, it works after unplugging main box :)

Also, I checked the LNB setting and it is set to on.
