laptop for IT course in college

hi all, looking to buy a laptop for college in september. i will probably be doing an IT course and so will need a good laptop.

im not too sure about what it is i exactly need in a laptop for an CS& IT course.

what processor, ram, etc would be required for doing an IT course.??
any laptop suggestions would be appreciated.

The one you're looking at is a refurb, but not a bad one spec wise.

That's a fine machine alright. Even if it's a refurb.


Trust me, IT courses tend not to need high end machines. Going into final year now, and to be honest, I haven't even needed a laptop. Nice to have at times, but I definitely wouldn't bring it in with me every day.

Well, they did have a couple of very good offers in the last few days but "mysteriously" they have all gone out of stock now.

Dabs/Lenovo link not working. The Sammy comes with an AMD A-6 processor, not exactly my first choice.

Apologies for hijaking the thread, I am in the same position as the OP....looks like the machine linked above in Argos is out of stock everywhere, pity it looks like a great deal. So I am down to deciding between two PC's....one is available locally in Currys the other in laptop direct. Would appreciate your opinion between the two considering also that one of them is available locally....the laptop direct machine looks better, prices about the same, what do you think?.
