As above, I finish up in Smurfit in a few weeks. I assume my email will be terminated after a certain length of time, how long will this be does anyone know? Just want to know for using it in job applications etc.

I can't guarantee it but as far as i am aware you can keep the email for a year after graduation. Mine is still going strong and i'm finished in ucd 3 months, if thats any good to you for now

Cheers, good to know as I didn't want to be applying from an email that doesn't sound in any way professional.

Microsoft have allowed people to start registering for "@outlook.com" email addresses now, managed to get my name in so that's me sorted regardless.

AFAIK it's six months after you cease to be a student. Registration is for twelve months so if you registered in September your email will be good until the following March after you finish.

I emailed IT asking this question a while ago and they said 200 days.

Regardless, yourname@gmail.com is a perfectly acceptable professional email address.

As long as it's not PHILO_69_IRA@BEBO.COM then I think you'll be grand.

There is also the little known @mail.ie email service, although terrible layout and quality, you're almost certain to have your name available to register on it.

Also, Microsoft has just started offering free addresses on the outlook.com domain - so you might get a good one if you jump in there quickly. It includes their SkyDrive cloud drive system: create and edit Office documents in the browser.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.
