Lasek Recovery

I know with Lasek it takes longer for the eyes to adjust, but it's over two weeks now since I have had my surgery with Optical Express and I don't see much improvement. I can see far better now than before surgery, but it's still not as good as I expected.

Also, the other night, while I was sleeping, I accidentally poked myself in the eye and for a few minutes felt the stinging sensation I remembered from just after surgery. The eye seems OK now, but just worried I may have slowed down the healing...

Maybe give your clinic a call if your worried and make an appointment for them to check out your eyes?

Hi, Don't worry just be patient. Mine took approximately 9 weeks to fully recover (better than 20/20 in both eyes) With LASEK 8 -12 weeks is recommended for optimum results.

All ghosting and halos stopped after week 6. There's no quick recovery with LASEK so you just have to wait. It will be worth it though.

Six weeks now since my surgery. My right eye seems to have improved significantly, the left eye a little slower. Recovery is indeed slow, but every few days I notice a slight improvement.

I had lasek in one of my eyes last week, long vision is improving and im happy with that but my near vision is v blurry now (wasn't a few days ago). Is this normal? will it go back to what it once was?

Im 23 and have never had problem with reading anything before.

Hi, a week is very short recovery expectation time, give it some time. I had the lasek done april last year and it took a good 2-3 months to get it perfect, I am now 20/20 in right eye, it was -7.5, and better than 20/20 in left, was -4.5. I went back to them a few months ago as I thought my right wasn't properly sorted, and it turned out my eyes were dehydrated. I now use the blink drops every 2-3 days, and have found a huge improvement, it was like washing the windscreen in a car, the clarity was instant.

Give it a bit of time, use the drops as prescribed and if not completely happy, give them a buzz. The after care is usually superb. Good luck.

I had lasek at the end of August. Don't worry, you're very early days yet. I was reading some days with the text inches from my eye...it was the only way I could read. It will improve gradually, i'm grand now. It's amazing the difference each week makes with the improvements in vision.

Thanks for the responses. I'm just finding it a bit bizarre since I could read with the eye after the surgery but a few days later I cant. I know long distance can take weeks/months which is fine.

Ive heard they can overcorrect your sight from say -x before to +y (which would be a bit ****)

Im getting my other eye done tomorrow but will get to the bottom of it before I get it operated on.

I'll post up on what happens for others in similar situation in the future.

I was really clear for the first week and then took a big dip the 2nd week. It did resolve itself again though and its really good now (had surgery Aug 23rd so just over 3 1/2 weeks). Keep using the lubricating drops very regularly, even if you feel you don't need them and pop in a drop before you go to sleep too.

How long after LASEK can you drive? Optical Express told me within 5-7 days, have you found similar?

I'd give it at least 7 days. You'll know yourself though. Night driving can be quite difficult and should probably be avoided for a couple of weeks

It varies from person to person, as soon as the was contact out, 2 days after the op I could see v clearly and drive, and 5 days on ive better than 20/20 vision in the eye.

Had my other eye done yesterday and have little to no discomfort from it. been watching tv and on computer all day today.

I'm not sure why people complain about lasek, ive had practically no discomfort other than from the painkillers which I haven't took any for my second eye and feel great today.
