Caribbean in August

Hey there. I'm getting married next August and my fiancee and I would love to travel to the Caribbean but we're concerned the weather mightn't be the best. I don't mind a bit of rain and in the past, I've travelled to Thailand during the rainy season where you'd get a downpour but then it drys up in no time; which is grand. Still, I don't know if it's best avoided altogether or not. Any recommendations or people's personal experiences of travelling at this time would be most welcome. Thank you. JM

Depends on what part/parts of Caribbean you plan to visit. Officially hurricane season is from June to Nov & we have had our cruises disrupted a few times while cruiseing in Sept.

    Hey,
we're just home since Monday from 10 days in the Dominican Republic and we had an absolute ball. The weather was fab with the exception of Tropical storm Ernesto on the first weekend and to be fair, that was just breezy with some horrendous showers that dried up straight away into glorious sunshine. By the end of the day we were staying in the pool for the showers, we were wet anyway :)
I came home with a colour like i've never had before so that'll tell ya.
We took a chance i suppose travelling in hurricane season but i'd been in Cayman Islands in September a few years ago and we had beautiful weather.
Best of luck with your wedding & enjoy your honeymoon, where ever ye decide!
    MrsB
