    Hi all,

I am looking at doing a 3 month trip starting from the end of September and getting back home for Xmas.

The rough plan is as follows:

Flight 1 : Dublin - Jakarta (3 weeks in Indonesia)
    Flight 2 : Jakarta - Perth / Darwin (1 week)
Make own way to Red Center (2 weeks)
Make own way to Sydney (1 week)
Flight 3 : Sydney - South/North Island NZ (not sure yet)
Make own way down through NZ (4/5 weeks)
    Flight 4 : South/North Island NZ - Dublin

I have a quote of about 2900 USD for this combination roughly (this doesn't include the flights I need to take to cross Oz).

What do people think of this price (with AirTreks) and can you recommend any alternatives I should look up for estimates. I am going to try Trailfinders aswell but I hear they can sometimes be pricey.

    Thanks in advance

If you book the flights yourself with the airlines it comes out at around €2.3k which is roughly the same.

Dublin to Jakarta - 21th September €550 - Etihad air

Jakarta to Perth - 4th October €170 - Jetstar airways

Sydney to Christchurch 15th November €160 - Jetstar airways

(Aukland to dublin 18th December €1400 Emirates air)

    or if you fly from

Aukland to Bangkok €530 11th December - Qantas air

Bangkok to Dublin 20th December - €650 Etihad air

Save 200 bucks and get a week in thailand

I was in Trailfinders other day pricing the same kind of trip and its approx 1800 with them on a RTW. (This included a stop off in USA on way back from NZ).

    Cheers for the replies,

Ya I didn´t have the feeling it was a brilliant price,I will give Trailfinders a shout and see what they say....

I know it sounds wasteful, but it's often a lot cheaper if you always arrive / depart from the same airport. It can be better to, for example, fly in and out of sydney, and just get a low-cost one-way flight to Darwin from Sydney, and work your way back

I did a RTW trip a few years ago and found Austravel to be the cheapest. They are very friendly and helful too.Maybe try go Hop either.
Ours was a 7 stop ticket including oz working visas, insurance and bank accounts and was about 2.3k.
