    Hi Folks,
Been here since 2003, don't post here much any more.
I was shooting at the Liverpool match in Belfast last night, using a 70-200mm with 1.4x teleconverter (wish I didn't use it now) on a D300.

It was originally advertised as "Brendan Rodger's is expected to bring a strong team". He didn't. He wasn't even there. Anyway!

Apart from not being the sharpest

1 - missing parts of limbs and no ball

2 - players backs to you doesn't work (although I see quite a few submit these type photos so we play backs bingo when we see them)

3 - standard although not peak action

4 - best of the bunch, timing is spot on

    5 - 2 players looking at a Liverpool player, doesn't do anything

6 - ball missing, lacking action, doesn't work

Suffering a little from lack of sharpness perhaps(?) - Was this as a result of your teleconverter do you think?

Was it a bad teleconverter or just teleconverters are bad? (just curious, I see another thread in the workshop looking for advice on buying one)

Teleconverters in general aren't bad. I use a Canon 1.4x TC a lot, and it's brilliant. Now, the 2x TC I have is not great. It definitely slows focus, but also softens the images.

But, more importantly, it's how you use it. How you setup your camera, the quality of your glass, etc.
