Was over there in for two weeks in July, some great routes up into the mountains. Managed to get away from the kids for a good few three hours spins.

There is also a cycle path from Peurto del Carmen to Arrecife.

Renner (Eddie I think) is your man, I rented a Trek 2.5 w Ultegra, bottles, shoes, computer and helmet for €89 or so for 5 days. Carbon seems to be not much more.

Further down the strip twords Matagorda there is a fantastic BH outlet that also rent nearly new bikes, they also had some great prices on Spiuk clothing and glasses.

    Bring me back, great spot.

I was over for a week in feb and got this for 2 days for 40 (off peak) in Renners
Full Ultegra & carbon. Pic was taken on the route from Peurto del Carmen to Arrecife (at the airport runway)

I rented off Renners in early March for two days. If you are hiring in a group it would be worth booking in advance. When I was there I was lucky to get a road bike because he had 60 bikes rented to an olympic training camp. I managed to get a Merida Carbon bike with full Ultegra. I did a spin up through Arrecife and on past Cost Teguise one day. The following day I headed inland toward San Bartolome but it was a lot of climbing and it was very windy.
Some of the road surfaces are very rough. I will definitely go back a do it again.

Just back today from Lanzarote and used a company called http://www.flistonsbike.com/. I hired a full carbon bike for 5 days for €75.00 and i could take the bike for a day at a time over the period of my holiday. The lads in the shop advised on the best routes to take and gave me a loan on a helmet and water bottle so all i had to bring was my shoes.

Back from Lanzarote since last week. I also hired a bike from Renners; Alu BH with 105, compact.

Did 3 cycles in 5 days.

Day 1; Pta Del Carmen to Matgorda to Arecife and on to Costa Teguise. All along by the coast and flat. Out and back is about 60km. If you come back by St Bartolome there is some climbing to do and it could be 80 or 90km.

Day 2; Went inland AT 7:30 am. Headed for Asomada, brutal wind had to turn back and went to Yaiza and back through Puerto Calero 30km.

Day 3; Went to Puerto Calero, on to Yaiza and than El Golfo. Spectacular spin from El Golfo to Playa Blanca, then headed for Femes. Once again couldn't make it to the top and reach Femes. Got to about 250m and thought the chain would break so I came back to Yaiza and home.

I had an 11-25 on the back and 50-34 on the front. The guy in Renners said many people take a triple. I would if i did it again.

    Couple of things to note;

The wind is brutal and I was very nervous as a result.
Cycling into the wind, while climbing, was very tough
Roads are mostly good and deserted if you stay off the main ones.
Get a triple if you can.
Great climbs everywhere, provided you can get up them in the wind.

I do about 150 to 200km a week here at home, its a different cycle out there and takes some getting used to. The more I did the more I enjoyed it. If I go back, I will make it to Femes.

    Enjoy

Hi, I will be arriving Puerto del Carmen 27/4/13 and need to hire a pedal powered adult tricycle (balance problems) to get around - my wife will need to hire a normal bike.
    Any information would be great!?!?

    +1 for Flistons

Did a great price for 3 carbon bottechias for 12 days. Really good quality bikes with Ultegra and Athena groupsets.

When in Teguise - drop into Johnny Bakes - fantastic cakes - well worth the cycle up there
