There was a fully operational American police car for sale on Donedeal recently. Cant remember if it ws NYPD. Could you consider a DIY mock up using a suitable road car?

If I was to get one it would have to be the real deal

It was LAPD Colours, sold now, http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/vintagecars/3731131

It had a matching NYPD with it (blue and white), both were used by a Kilkenny security firm as advertising for a while.
If you call he may know where the NYPD car is now.

I'm fairly sure there's a UK company that specialises in US police cruisers. There's a few ex USAF fire engines around as well.

It would depend on what era you want. Most police forces in the US are off loading their Ford Crown Victoria's right now and you can pick up one very cheap.

The problem is getting it back. If you happened to know someone in the US armed forces they get massive discounts on shipping cars to Europe. A friend of mine in the US army got his 98 Mustang shipped to Germany for $500, granted it was another serviceman he was selling it to but apparently they're not fussy why or who you're sending it to.

Its relatively simple to get it into a container bound for Ireland otherwise but it'll cost you. Bear in mind most of the Crown Victoria's have tuned up V8's in them. Revenue's VRT calculator will have great craic charging you for CO2 emissions.

GlaxoSmithKline in Ringaskiddy have a pretty cool US retro style firetender. Doubt they'd sell it to ya though.
There was a fella at the top of Patricks Hill had a kinda Blues Brothers "bluesmobile" cop car there years back, dunno if it's still on the go.

Vrt could be a couple of grand easy along with €1683 per annum tax.

You would be better off with a 30 y/o + model.

This will be eligible for classic tax and you will reg for €200 next year.

I'd say 4-5 grand based on the fact that it is a high emission car and because its not on sale on the market in Ireland revenue probably don't have the data on it. When revenue don't have the data they either charge you the highest amount or they pull a figure out of thin air. You could get lucky sometimes they may take it off a similar model on sale here. Say for example 2006 Mondeo 3.0L with 150,000 miles would have similar emissions (according to a google search I did 217g per Km) and that works out at about 1600 euro.

You could be better off with a very old one. You'd probably only have to pay the classic car VRT on it
