Van in a Mercedes garage

Ok so im looking for some advice, i have a Mercedes van still in warranty (just about) and ive had a load of problems, turned out Mercedes gave a load of vans a bad paint job and they started to rust (i got one of them) so it went in for the new paint job to a Mercedes garage, and when i got it back it turns out they did not go to a Mercedes pain center or something and “when to the guy across the road as i was told” and the paint job is crap, they then told me –
well actually the parts that are bad(aka paint job does not look good) we did not have to do under warranty but we just did them anyway
yet im now stuck with a crap paint job, they then tell me its only a Van like the Mercedes van i saved for ages is just nothing :(
so i get home and then find since my van went in that the electrics on one door to lock it etc have stopped working! O btw a door and a other panel in the van was so bad they had to replace them, so i think well they just forgot to set it up at the end so i being van up to them again today and they tell me im going to have to pay for it to be fixed even though it was working before they had my van for 3 weeks :(
I was talking to a mate of mine and they sent a Mercedes car in to get fixed and where told O we think its problem X that will cost 1000, but also its could be problem Y that also cost 1000, so we many need to try both! And you will have to pay for the 2000...
So im now starting to think something is up here, this all seems strange to me and i am unsure where to go next with this problem... any advice would be good!
    Ta

Go back to them and demand a fully functioning free from rust van back.

If they give you more grief, get a Solicitor and have him deal with it for you.

    VITO's are renound for rust.

thanks and btw any feelings on what to do about this part - " so i get home and then find since my van went in that the electrics on one door lock etc have stopped working!"
they saying this is my problems and ill have to pay to get it fixed... which at this point its adding salt to the wound!

Could be that they didn't reconnect a block connector when the door was off.

I wouldn't go straight to a solicitor if they muck you about, I'd go to Mercedes Ireland first. Solicitors are expensive, letters aren't. I'd mention that this is my planned route, and that you're willing to take the nuclear legal option if neither of a) or b) are successful.

was it a main dealer ?? surely the motor trade ireland would love to hear not only your story but how poorly they treated you ( you will have to give them the long winded version... ) and hopefully they'll give the place a good oul kick up the bum...

then go to merc ireland as previously stated and tell them not only what happened ( send them the same letter as you did above ) saying how their disgracing their good badge with dodgey work and check the legitimisy of their lads work... im sure they also will not be happy with such low standards of work concidering how hard it can be to get approved as a Merc/bmw mechanic/panel beater...

Sorry to hear about such poor dealings... IMHO: garages... trades folks and all should be workign that much harder for less to do higher quality work, regardless of trade... if your business is quiet then you have no excuse for rushing or such mess up's.

do please keep us informed on how you get on.
