PLC course and social welfare?

I am currently in receipt of disability allowance. I was considering returning to third level education at an IT but don't think I'll be able for it to be honest (due to being out of education for a long time and due to severe anxiety issues) so I am looking into a plc course instead. Now I'm a bit confused about a few things so perhaps someone here could help....

Will I be able to keep disability allowance? (I won't be eligible for btea as a second chance student as the course is not the same level as the one I originally withdrew from)
Can I apply for a grant also?
My partner and I are in receipt of rent allowance...will this be affected?

    Thanks in advance!

You need to get a place on a PLC course first. The second step is to get written permission from the disability allowance section, this is generally easy to obtain. However you will be still subject to, at the behest of DA, medical examinations etc throughout the year, were applicable. I think you will be eligible for a grant (contact citizen advice). If the course is a success and you wish to pursue third level, providing the course is at the correct level, you will then probably be entitled to BTEA or DA if you are still on it. However, you will still be open to medical examinations etc.

I think if you get DA you can also get a grant. AHEAD might be able to advise www.ahead.ie

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
