    Hi there,

I am planning to return to studying in 2013 september.

I have already completed a BTEC Higher National Diploma in Health and Social Care and i am not sure to which level i am eligable too apply for, without going back over things i have already studied?

i want to do a degree or hopefully hounours degree in social studies, but will i have to start at year one and do 4 years?

Also if anyone knows with the BTEC can i apply for a Psychology/sociology course or does it have to be social care?

Id appriciate if any one has any experience with this or any info,,thanks so much

    :)

Hi .well done on your btec HND, you can get in to either 2nd or 3rd year in most of the ITs for Social Studies,it depends on your results, you have to apply direct to the Colleges ,keep an eye on their web sites for details about direct entry, and when you get your level 8 honours degree from the IT you can progress to do a masters degree in Social Work in Dublin, Cork or Galway and I'm sure there are others as well, Also some HND Colleges have contacts to finish off a degree in the UK. Hope this helps you. Where did you do your HND?. D

You apply to level 7 first and then progree to level 8 add on honours, but best thing to do is contact the IT later in the year when they have settled down with first years and they will be able to tell you what to do

oh thank you so much for your advise and info.

yes i will get in touch with them directly, as you say later in the year as im sure all colleges would be abit hectic right now.

i did it in a small plc college beside my secondary school in westmeath :)
