First of all, prepare yourself for a shock at how expensive the country is. Secondly, research all your tours and transport before you leave.

Finally, make sure you take as many suitcases as you can and learn a few basics in Japanese to get you by.

On an off topic note I personally wouldn't encourage anyone to go to Japan on a loan to buy games etc. Save up more and go when you've the funds. None of my business of course, and not aimed at you in that way, just expressing my opinion on the matter so no offence intended by the way.

Enjoy it, its an amazing country. :)

I'd get one of those black/transparent 'this is cool' Saturns rather than a standard white one. Like their tagline, they are indeed very cool.

I think they're called Skeleton Saturns unofficially?

Godzilla, and not the toy, the actual monster, that'd be cool....

Why doesn't anyone bring back cool stuff like that?

And don't say he's not real!
    He is!!!

Not sure how you'd box him up for the flight, put a call into DHL or FedEx, let them figure it out.

Course Godzilla isn't real. Everyone knows if he was real the Japanese would have cooked & eaten him by now

Hearing Astro Boy playing when you arrive at Takadanobaba station is brilliant!

Not to mention the Burusera vending machines... no, seriously, do not mention them, I still haven't quite gotten over the sight of 'em.

Just back in the door from the states, jetlagged like hell and have to start getting packed/ready for my flights to Tokyo on Wednesday. Interested to see what time-zone my body will think it's in on Thursday.

Pyongyang did you go to the Mikado arcade in Takadanobaba?

I used to travel a lot and after a few weeks of jumping countries every few days you start to exist outside of time, in a bubble if you will. I always called it "international time" :o
