Thinking of going to Peurto Del Carmen next year on holidays, just looking for peoples reviews/experiences in regard to entertainment, nightlife, accommodation, restaurants/bars. Just back from tenerife, very good holiday but not too keen on tenerife, something very cheap and tacky about it and the people were just so rude, any advice at all would be greatly appreciated

Been a couple of times but not for a few years now, tends to attract families & couples, wouldn't have a reputation as a PARTY island, good clean beach's, your usual mix of restaurants & bars, it's a duty free island so a little cheaper than Spain

Be careful where your accom is situated, some parts of the town are extremely hilly
It won't offend you but won't get you too excited either, grand for some R&R, sun, sea, sangria etc

Heard it was quiet enough there this year with the recession having its effect

Like that, I was there a few years back now as well but I remember it being that bit cleaner and quieter than your Gran Canaria/Tenerife job.

The nightlife was good craic if not overwhelming party mania. I was 19 at the time and had a good laugh all the same so it must have been lively enough. The restaurants were great aswell, and serious amount of choice down on the strip.

Definately want to go back, I'd say give it a lash.

If you are young and looking for a lively holiday probably not for you. If older and have kids with you...a good choice! Loads of apartments to choose from and cheaper to book flights and apartments seperate.

It's divided into two parts the old town and the new town. The old town is quiet with a few bars and a few nice restaurants. It's nice but nothing too exciting.

The new town is based on a promenade along the beach and has loads of restaurants and bars. Most of the restaurants are cheap and cheerful, decent enough selection of bars. The nightclubs are mainly in one complex near the end of the strip. You'll be absolutely plagued by reps offering free shots etc when you pass by them and it can get annoying. Happens most places though.

It all depends how old you are, who you are going with and what you are looking for. It's not mental stuff like you could get in Playa del Ingles or Magaluf etc but the new town can be lively enough in high season. You won't get groups of 18 year olds off their heads but there will be a few couples, families and older groups in their 20s.

The food there is pretty good and cheap and there are a few nice restaurants if you want to treat yourself. I've stayed in 3 or 4 apartments there and they've all been fine.

It's very handy from the airport too, it's only about €15 in a taxi and takes about 20 mins or so. It's a great place to go if you want to chill for a week, drink a few beers and have a laugh either as a couple or as a group of friends. It's not for you though if you want to drink 'till you get sick every night and go clubbing until 7 in the morning surrounded by drunk teens.

Have you tried Playa Blanca down the south of the island? We've been four times (including getting married there) and it's just so relaxed and chilled out. Plenty of brilliant beaches to choose from, loads and loads of restaurants all along the promenade. We're hoping to go back in November

Try Matagorda ... 5 mins from airport so cheap taxi ride. Local commercial centre with choice of eats/drinks/shops, nice little beach close by, no hills. Cheap taxi into PDC for more excitement....
