I'm heading up for the match this Sunday and was hoping to play on a Dublin course. I've looked up golf 'Opens' but they are block booked up to 10.30am. I would have preferred to be out before 9.00am. Yes, I have been 'slow' in not having prepared before this...but there is always the chance still...any suggestions?

If you're coming from either Kilkenny or Tipperary Dunmurray Springs or Beech Park would be convenient. There's a Senior and Junior Scratch cup on in Beech Park on Sun and times available at 9 and before 8. Dunmurray Springs only seem to open their timesheet at 10 after which there are plenty of free slots but probably a bit late when progressing onto the match.

Thanks, Dr. C. Unfortunately, I don't qualify for even Junior status (>9) :o. I spoke to the guy at Dunmurray and he will try to let let me out know Sat. evening if I can get out before 10.00am

He also said that if I could get a 4 ball he would let us out around 7.30am. Could be mighty crack to have 2 Tipp and 2 Kilkenny lads! Anyone up for it? There is a 4-ball at Forest Little also on Sunday (nearer to Croker), but their timesheet is full (up to 10.30). If I can get a 4-ball then, I will ask to see if we can get out 7.00ish! PM me if interested.

Most clubs will be booked until 10am on weekends because of member times from 8 to 10 or 7.30 to 9.30.

Thanks LOFT, but I'm hoping to get out before Members time and so far, the 2 clubs that I've been in contact with, have no issues...but it must be a 4-ball

I suppose once you keep ahead of the members it will not be a problem

Don't know what their fascination is with 4-balls. Most member competitions on a Sun morning are 3-balls so you'd stand a better chance of keeping the pace as a 2 ball or 3 ball. If it's purely the money from the added numbers they're looking for then surely a 2 ball is better than no ball at all.

Sorry if my previous msg is/was misunderstood. Both clubs that I spoke to are either hosting a 4-ball or allowing members out in four (singles). So, as long as we are moving nicely (I can't abide slow play), we ought not be the (only) cause for other groups being held-up (hopefully :o).
